Fox Journalist Says BlackRock CEO Barely Knows That XRP Exists, Community Reacts

Charles Gasparino comments on the prospect of BlackRock launching an XRP ETF, saying that the company’s CEO has limited awareness about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap.

Fox Business Senior Correspondent Charles Gasparino has taken to the X platform to comment on his recent interview with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink regarding the prospect of an XRP spot-based exchange-traded fund (ETF).

BlackRock CEO XRP ETF Comments Stirs Speculation

For context, in a recent interview, Gasparino quizzed Fink to comment on BlackRock’s stance on launching an XRP ETF in the near future.

Responding to Gasparino’s question about a potential ETF, Fink said, “I can’t talk about that.”

His refusal to provide a definite answer sparked speculation among XRP enthusiasts. Some cryptocurrency fans speculate that Fink’s response suggests there is room for the world’s largest asset manager to consider launching an XRP ETF.

Gasparino Says BlackRock CEO Barely Knows XRP Exists

As XRP community members speculate about BlackRock’s potential foray into XRP, Gasparino weighed in, stating that Fink has limited awareness about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

He pointed out that the CEO of the top asset manager is only knowledgeable about Ethereum’s status in the crypto market. Furthermore, he urged XRP community members not to read too much into Fink’s “committal answer” regarding BlackRock’s stance on launching a spot-based ETF.

XRP Community Reacts

As expected, Gasparino’s comment raised the ire of XRP enthusiasts, who took to the comment section to react. Many community members slammed Gasparino for being deceitful, as they believed Fink had substantial knowledge about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

An XRP enthusiast with the username “Bobby A” noted that financial experts consistently brief Fink about the happenings in the crypto market. Bobby also recalled that the BlackRock CEO had been engaged in multiple interviews where he provided clear descriptions of XRP and its use cases.

“Your statement not only makes you look deceitful but assumes that Larry Fink is an idiot, which he is not,” Bobby added.

Another enthusiast stated that Gasparino would not have asked Fink about XRP if he was certain that the BlackRock CEO had limited awareness about the sixth-largest cryptocurrency.

I am curious… If you are aware of Larry Fink’s knowledge regarding $XRP, why even ask about the $XRP ETF?

According to some XRP enthusiasts, Gasparino’s recent comment on the prospect of an XRP ETF shows that the cryptocurrency is living rent-free in his mind.

Unfriendly Relationship Between Gasparino and XRP Community

It bears mentioning that Gasparino and XRP community members have been at loggerheads for months, with both parties trading words on the X platform.

While XRP enthusiasts slam Gasparino for being a biased journalist regarding his stance on cryptocurrency, he refers to the community as “conspiracy theorists.”

SEC Approves Multiple Bitcoin ETFs

Meanwhile, the recent exchange of Gasparino and XRP community members comes days after the SEC approved multiple spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Recall that BlackRock is among the asset managers authorized to trade such funds. The world’s largest asset manager recorded massive success recently, boasting a whopping $1.01 billion out of the $4.33 billion recorded on the first day of trading.

Meanwhile, BlackRock is among the multiple asset managers seeking the SEC’s blessings to launch spot-based ETFs involving Ethereum. The regulator must decide whether to deny or approve at least one of these ETFs on or before May 23, 2024.

It is still unclear whether BlackRock could consider launching an XRP ETF in the future, even after the SEC approves its Ethereum ETF application.
