Over the past week, bitcoin and ethereum faced declines, while a number of alternative cryptocurrencies enjoyed significant appreciation. Notably, JUP soared by 99.5% against the dollar, with WIF climbing 42% and SOL increasing 37% in the same period.

Alternative Crypto Assets Outshine Bitcoin and Ethereum with Double-Digit Growth This Week

A plethora of cryptocurrencies, other than bitcoin and ethereum, experienced double-digit gains this week, as BTC fell by 6% and ETH by 12%. The crypto market is currently valued at $2.57 trillion, marking a 1.47% increase from the previous day. Excluding stablecoins, BTC, and ETH, the highest trading volumes were recorded by SOL, BNB, AVAX, SHIB, DOGE, XRP, and NEAR, with solana (SOL) generating over $10 billion in global trades in the last day.

Jupiter (JUP) emerged as the week’s standout performer, soaring by 99.5% against the dollar. Additionally, JUP’s value increased by 15.9% in Monday’s trading sessions alone. The widely followed meme coin, dogwifhat (WIF), experienced a 42% uplift this week, and a 27.2% increase over the last day. SOL ranked as the third biggest gainer, accumulating a 37% rise against the dollar, with today’s gains reaching 7.9%.

Only eight cryptocurrencies reported double-digit gains. Following SOL, other notable weekly risers include AVAX, CFX, PYTH, AIOZ, and MKR. On the downside, FLOKI faced the most significant drop, losing 29.1% over the week. BSV followed, impacted by the conclusion of the COPA vs. Craig Wright case, shedding 28.1% over the week. Other cryptocurrencies experiencing double-digit losses include OP, LDO, XEC, MNT, MINA, SATS, among others.

Despite the upward movement of certain altcoins, the current 90-day overview indicates a prevailing “Bitcoin Season.” According to the Altcoin Season Index on blockchaincenter.net, the current score stands at 59, indicating it is “Not ‘Altcoin Season,’” as the score must surpass 75 for that season to commence.
